Riddhi finds herself in the fast lane when a renowned top cop is found murdered as mentioned in one of the letters. It is only when CBI officer Kabir Rana gets involved in solving the case, does he realize there is more to Riddhi than meets the eye. When Kabir starts decoding secret clues that would lead him to the murderer, what he comes across shakes him to the core.

My Take:

Thrillers have always been my favourite. Be it a romantic thriller or a psychological thriller or crime thriller. I love reading anything about this genre. “Closet Of Lies” by Samrudhi Chandak is of no exception. A gripping fast-paced crime thriller.

Coming to the plot, Riddhi, the protagonist of this story, started receiving mysterious letters from an anonymous sender which predicts the death of seven people. And as stated in those letters, one by one everyone was being murdered.

One of that was Mr Dongre’s death, a famous police inspector and that brings Kabir Rana, the CBI officer into the scene. Would Kabir be able to decode all the clues that have been left open for him to find? is the rest of the story.

This book is a short novella. It has only 9 chapters which make it a very short read. I still wonder how brilliantly the author had spun a sub-story on a stick-on notes. And the complimentary close on each letter “Yours Faithfully, Not Anymore.” literally brought a chill down my spine.

My guess on who would be the murderer went wrong until the very revelation. And the revelation itself shooked me to the core. How Kabir Rana solved the murder mystery gives a Sherlock Holmes touch to this book. And the climax just left me dumbstruck. Overall, it’s a short and an intriguing read.
My rating: 3.7/5
