Title : By The Flowing River

Author : Vivek Singh

Genre : Fiction

Publisher : Pan Macmillan

Blurb as on Goodreads:

Being one of the most sought-after employees at the Eunited Bank, Siddharth is confident that nobody can take away his job. But it comes as a bolt from the blue when he is fired from his position of a portfolio manager. Directionless, Siddharth leaves everything and goes on a journey of self-realization and discovery that will transform his life forever.

By the Flowing River, is a story of bouncing back from a sudden crisis and charting a path for a new life.

My take:

“By The Flowing River” is all about a man’s self-discovery after losing his job at the peak of his career. Sid, who had worked as a portfolio manager in the Eunited bank was fired from his job. Shattered and without knowing what to do further, he embarks on a journey to Rishikesh to find inner peace. There he took refuge in an ashram and was guided by guru Vishwas. The river taught him various lessons that had helped him to shape his life for the betterment. The author had also talked about the uncertainties of life and how one shouldn’t lose his/her self-confidence despite the situations. This book is more of a self- help book but had been written as a fiction. It’s a short but a valuable read.

My rating: 3/5
